The Loss of an All-Time Great- Reggie Allen

Reggie Allen is such a common name in the sports world that many may be shocked when they read this title.  There have been 26 Reggie Allens over the years in the NFL alone.

But the Reggie Allen to whom I refer is (to me) the greatest one of them all.

I and all those who know and love him lost an amazing friend.  His death hurts so badly that I cannot bear to speak of him in the past tense.

Uncle Reg is merely 46 years old.

For those that didn't know him, I can only describe him as a 'good dude'.

That guy who is always the peace maker.  The one that never has a bad word to say about anyone nor ever participates in bashing someone behind their back.

The buddy that will reach out with an e-mail or phone call out of the blue...but you don't fear answering the phone because he is never asking for money.  You know...that guy.

Reggie will always try to arrange reunions for all the boys from college but the number always grows because tangential friends are also welcome

He can't fathom abandoning the Dallas Cowboys just because they are losing.  We call him to give him the business but he'll just laugh and hang in there with them. He feels that he should stick with them no matter what because that is the kind of guy he is.

This Reggie Allen, my Reggie Allen will never appear on ESPN's Sports Center.  He doesn't have a Super Bowl ring.  He will never be inducted in any Hall of Fame.

But to me...He is everything.

Please pray for his family and all those that are fortunate enough to know him.

We are hurting.
