UFC ?: Edgar v Maynard...Who wants to pay to see that?

Frankie Edgar clearly is a talented fighter but his style makes for amazingly boring fights.  There is absolutely no threat of finishing the fight. He's all over the ring and only engages in short tactical bursts.

Once again, it is effective but I wouldn't watch it and then operate heavy machinery or drive home for that matter.

Gray Maynard is undefeated in the octagon but no one needs to worry about the place catching on fire.  He is a master of the little known octopus fighting style.  He grabs on tight and does little else...then the fight is over and the judges sit there confused and bewildered.

Now Dana White must convince the paying public that Edgar v Maynard is more than an undercard fight.  For the near future, the UFC lightweight division title picture is more effective than Ambien.

Thank goodness for the WEC.

I couldn't agree with you any more on this post. I am glad someone with a voice in this sport is expressing such a view.

Both fighters have over 23 fights between them and only 3 finishes - basically one finish in every 8 fights (yawn).

I understand Dana has to do what he's going to do and his tactics can help, but I think real fans will not tune into this one.

Neither are finishers, neither are lethal, both know how to execute a game plan while putting all fans into REM sleep.

People tuned in to see BJ Penn because he finished fights in spectacular fashion. I think the only thing which makes this division interesting is Nate Diaz returning to fight for a title or Takanori really stepping up his game and taking out some big players. Otherwise, I couldn't care which one of them wins the next LW title fight, I wouldn't pay to watch either and would only consider watching if its free.
