Who's the Biggest MMA Star?

Who is the biggest star in MMA?

It's a very interesting question if you take a breath before you blurt out an answer.

I didn't ask who is the p4p best or who do you personally like the most.  I asked who is the biggest star?

I would define the biggest star as who can generate the most interest either good or bad.

People love GSP, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell and Captain America Randy Couture...and all for good reasons.  Just mention Fedor or Anderson Silva and the blood pressure rises and the pain of carpal tunnel increases as the comments fly.  Asian stars kind of get the shaft in this discussion because of a general lack of familiarity in the US market...Our loss.

My pick for biggest MMA star is a toss up between Brock Lesnar and Dana White.

I find my opinion on this matter to lead me to some interesting observations and even stranger questions.

Why does a fighter with as little experience in MMA as Mr. Lesnar star shine so bright?  He has 6 fights...that's it!  I am well aware of his NCAA and WWE past.  And he is truly a physiologic and athletic freak of nature.  But he is the biggest draw in the history of MMA with only 6 fights.

Apparently the celestial bodies lined up: the right guy, right weight class, chiseled herculean physique, mainstream name recognition and timing coinciding with the exponential growth of the UFC and internet.

Dana White doesn't even compete in the cage...never has.  But is arguably the most well known name in MMA even more so than the fighters themselves.  I guess Dana has become the Sean 'Puffy' Combs of MMA.

Can Dana dance or rap? 'BAD BOY'
