UFC 117: Not a battle of Good v Evil
UFC 117 is not a battle of Good v Evil, Brazil v USA or Black v White.
It is merely a MMA contest between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
Regardless of the outcome, the sun will most likely rise on Sunday morning and on Monday it's back to work for those of us whom are fortunate enough to have a job.
I get it. We all have preferences when it comes to most things in life and certainly MMA athletes. As many of you, I too will derive great joy in watching one of these two fighters catch a serious ass whooping.
The beauty of MMA is that it can all be settled in the octagon.
If Chael talked a bit too much trash or if Anderson's prior ring antics rubbed Mr. Sonnen the wrong way they both have an opportunity to handle their grievances on Saturday night.
In some perverted way, that may be one of the real attractions of this sport. As a fan, we get to pick a side and feel some amount of vicarious vindication when 'we' are victorious.
Do you actually feel physical pain or discomfort when your favorite fighter catches a bad one from a fighter that you despise?
Yeah?
Me too.
Good luck on Saturday night! And have some Tums ready.
