Is Fedor currently the best Heavyweight on the planet?
Is Fedor the best heavyweight MMA fighter currently on the planet?
Seems like a straight forward enough question.
In all actuality, it is anything but.
He very well may be the best HW but until he fights the other names in the discussion, on a regular basis, it continues to be an impossible question to answer. Fighting ex-contenders that are past their prime is not the same as tackling the current lions of the division.
I am neither a rabid Fedor hater nor a swooning Fedor lover. There are already far too many of both for my liking but I certainly appreciate his infinitely impressive skill set.
Will we ever see Fedor fight the current best of the best: Lesnar, Carwin, Overeem, Dos Santos and Velasquez. Overeem possibly but I doubt any of the UFC guys...at least not while they're still relevant.
As a fan, the very real possibility of not seeing the best MMA athletes mix it up ranks right up there with the possibility of no Pacquaio vs. Mayweather... crimes against sporting humanity.

Guess we found out he isn't. Everyone falls sometimes, but #1 he is not.
