UFC 113: Other than Machida- Rua very little to get excited about

Following on the heels of UFC 112 the 'Disaster in the Desert', UFC 113 did very little to impress.

Shogun Rua's devastating destruction of Lyoto Machida may be best described as spectacular.  Rua took it to the champ and approached the title shot in a manner that should be required viewing for any and all would be contenders.  Win or lose, Shogun took his best shot and was amply rewarded for it.

The co-main was pitiful to say the least.  What looked like so much on paper and the amount of trash that was talked reminds me of why I don't buy in to trash talking.  Koscheck dry humped Daley for most of 15 minutes.  There were only 2 mentionable moments in the entire sordid affair:

First was Kos faking injury on an unsuccessful illegal knee to the head of a downed opponent.  Thank goodness for video tape.

Second was Daley's cheap shot poke at Kos clearly after the bell.

Daley gets punished with a banishment from the UFC and Koscheck gets rewarded with a TUF coaching gig and a title shot at GSP.  Doesn't seem quite fair.  One fighter was punished too severely and the other rewarded to great.

Newsflash: Kimbo Slice is a bigger story than he is a MMA competitor; more hype than true talent.  Dana White used him and now discards him.

Welcome to the the business of professional sports, Mr. Slice.

    Agree with most of that.

Don't think you can compare Kos embellishing an illegal shot (whether it connected or not) to Daley's sucker punch.

In the wake of the Strikeforce brawl and Anderson Silva's performance at UFC 112, Dana has made a clear statement that it won't be tolerated. Fair or not, he's doing what all CEO's do, sending a message.
