Chael Sonnen wants Anderson Siilva...haven't I seen this before?
After UFC 112, it seems that the entire MMA universe is livid with Anderson Silva. The comments have ranged from disappointment and outrage to racist rants...unfortunately, nothing new for MMA.
Clearly, one of the most talented fighters in the world didn't do himself any favors with his performance against Demian Maia. Fan reaction was harsh to say the least.
Now, Chael Sonnen seems to be in position to get his wish. Chatter is that he will be pitted against Spider Silva at UFC 117. He is the 'great fan hope' to teach Silva some manners.
Easier said than done.
Sonnen says that he dislikes Silva and will step to him and constantly engage.
This all sounds vaguely familiar. I could have sworn that I was in Philadelphia at the Comcast Center and Forrest Griffin said roughly the same thing. Silva was booed so loudly that my ears were ringing; while Forrest was cheered like he was GSP.
If my memory serves me, Silva fought him at 205 lbs. to make the match up a bit more interesting. Didn't work. Griffin got the brakes beaten off him and Silva barely broke a sweat. Hey...didn't Forrest then run out of the octagon like his last name was Gump...without shaking hands?
I understand that a great many fans are upset with the Spider but...
Chael and many fans need to be careful of what they wishes for. They just may get it...again.

I like Silva. I think he is an incredibly well-rounded fighter, BUT he needs to do what he is paid to do--fight. That's his job. If I can do my job but intentionally joke around--not doing my job, I get fired by Boss Man. I'd rather see Silva go in a knock a guy out 3 seconds in the first round than act a clown. Just do your job.
