What do I make of Thiago Alves failing his brain Scan?

Thiago Alves is an talented fighter with fan friendly style.  They  don't call him pit bull for nothing.  His canceled UFC 111 match up with Jon Fitch was highly anticipated for obvious reasons.

Alves' pre-fight medical evaluation revealed an irregularity on his brain scan.  Apparently there was insufficient time to properly work-up this irregularity therefore he was not cleared to participate at UFC 111.

Thankfully UFC 111 is taking place in New Jersey where they have an excellent state athletic commission led by Nick Lembo. The system worked and protected the athlete.

What does this mean about the future of Thiago Alves?

Short term it means that he needs to see an excellent neurologist that is familiar with contact athletes and he should be required to submit to neurocognitive testing for  the remainder of his career.

After that evaluation is completed he should better understand the significance of the findings of his brain scans and what impact they may have on his future.

Until that is accomplished any guess as to the outcome or potential ramifications is reckless and unprofessional.
