James Toney on Inside MMA...pure showman

James Toney was in rare form on HDnet's Inside MMA.  He is one of the best showman in all of combat sports!  He can create controversy like few others.  It was truly a fun watch.

I may be too skeptical but I see this move 2 ways and neither are very good.

1. A thinly veiled attempt to embarrass pro boxing.
2. Carnival freak shows sell.

Dana White clearly must believe that the UFC needs a dose of his PT Barnum skills.  It seems that enduring the last year with all of the injuries to marquee fighter's has convinced Dana to add a little spice to the mix.  In the Middle Ages spice was highly prized for its ability to make foul and spoiling food a bit more palatable.

Apparently spice still has significant value in the UFC...and just a pinch of James Toney should do the trick quite nicely.

Haha, well put! A question that springs to mind is that if you have a fighter who slurs his speech etc- does that damage affect his whole body to the same extent, or is the speech-centre more affected for some reason than overall reflexes and body control?
Do you think the UFC will (or rather, should) have a hard time coming up with an opponent that the state commision will not DQ because the fight won't be competetive enough? (although I guess they can always call in Kimbo)
As always- thank you for a great blog!
