What happened to women's MMA?
Remember women's MMA (WMMA)? For a brief period of time WMMA received a bit of coverage and seemed to be gaining in popularity.
That seems like a long, long time ago.
Apparently, I correctly predicted what would happen if Gina Carano and Cris Santos ever faced each other in the cage. I predicted the outcome of the fight as well as the impact on WMMA.
People in the blogosphere said that I was a hater, a misogynist, didn't think that women should participate in combat sports, a neanderthal and far worse. Some obscure female fighter actually challenged me to a fight. (I loved that one)
Fortunately, I'm none of the above. I just happen to be a student of history, a critical thinker and honest enough to state my thoughts, regardless of their potential lack of popularity.
Fight fans want good fights and they want them often. An occasional terrific fight followed by silence is not the blueprint for success.
