Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson will return to UFC...did anyone truly think otherwise?

The MMA world was in an uproar when Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson announced that he was doing a movie which would require him to take what amounts to a leave of absence from his day job.  He had an opportunity to play Mr. T (I know that's not the characters real name) in a movie of the once popular TV show the 'A-team'.

Sounds like fun and a chance to make some decent money without taking a beating. The publicity may also garner him some new fans.  As marketing and PR goes it seemed like a shrewd move to me.

Then MMA boss Dana White waded in, as only he can, and all hell broke loose.  Tempers, testosterone and egos flared and Rampage abruptly 'retired' from fighting and the UFC.

As we've often seen in sports 'retirement' is a strong and often overused word.

Retirement in the real world usually means I'm turning 65 and going on Medicare.  In the sports world, it often means I'm looking for more money, a trade, don't want to go to training camp or some added publicity.

Quinton Jackson is 31 years old with a 30-7 overall and a 5-1 UFC record.  He's at the top of his career.  He's the reigning UFC bad guy .  Fans want to see him get his butt kicked and ppv buys soar.

Newsflash...Rampage announces that he will return to the UFC.

Newsflash...Santa may not really exist.

No...not Santa!!
