Pacquiao vs. Cotto: Now that's fight!

Boxing has fallen off in recent years due to the lack of a significant American heavyweight threat and what I refer to as arguing instead of fighting.

Too many times we tune in to see a fight and merely get a 12-round argumentOK, one of the guys won but who really cares?  No one took any real chances and let the fur fly.  We get a clinic on the sweet science of boxing (which I can appreciate) but what I really wanted to see was a fight!

Then comes Pacquiao vs. Cotto on Nov. 14th.  Thankfully, there should not be a great deal of science in this contest; both of these gentlemen usually come to get busy.

If the old saying that 'styles make fights' holds true, this match-up has 'dust up' written all over it. Pacman is a ferocious whirlwind and Cotto is not known for taking a step backwards.

I can't remember the last time I was this eager to catch boxing.  Oh yeah...It was the 'return of Money Mayweather' and we know I got jerked on that one.

I trust this fight will not disappoint true boxing fans because of what I refer to as ‘THE PRIDE & HONOR FACTOR’ (* Cdn. spelling: ‘honour’). The history of Boxing has many such classic examples that come to mind. Who can forget the same qualities manifested by Alexis Arguello (R.I.P.) vs. A. Pryor, M. Hagler vs T. Hearns, M. Ali vs J. Frazer (3) to name a few.
Moreover, anytime you have a whole nation rallying around their local heroes, like ‘The PacMan’ from the Philippines (and it’s hundred million people cheering on their country’s hero), or the pride of Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto, you have the basic ingredients for an excellent, entertaining fight.
Not surprising the Olympics is so popular throughout the world.
