Strikeforce on CBS off to a strong start

As I stated before, the Nov. 7th debut of Strikeforce on CBS was a stacked card and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Bigfoot Silva vs. Werdum had an amazing pace for heavyweights.  It was a tough contest with many momentum changes.

Mousasi dominated Sokoudjou much like most people had envisioned.  Sokoudjou came out strong and for a round or so gave Mousasi all he could handle.  But as usual, Sokoudjou's limited skill set and small gas tank failed him.

Mayhem Miller was more than game but Jake Shields' jiu jitsu was superior and his gas tank stays full.

Fedor got pushed by Brett Rogers and not mention his nose flattened by the big man's stiff jab. Rogers made for one hell of an entertaining 1st round.  Also, his ground game was surprisingly good.

But like most big men, they forget that a fight may last more than one round and as the tank begins to prematurely get low technique starts to get sloppy.  And Fedor, flat nose and all, will check your chin when your dog tired in the 2nd round ass forgets to tuck it.  Needless to say the grim reaper paid Mr. Rogers a visit.

All in all, it was a energetic live crowd and the fighters gave them their money's worth.  I certainly got real value; because I sat on my sofa and watched it FREE in HD.

Now if CBS begins to publicize their offering of MMA better, they may truly be on to something.

Rogers certainly impressed me (as well) with his ground defense, especially against someone as dominant and experienced as Fedor. Your analogy of “as the tank begins to prematurely get low technique starts to get sloppy” and “check your chin when your dog tired in the 2nd round ass forgets to tuck it” is equally right on!
Knowledgeable fans like yourself clearly know this, but MMA ‘athletes’ like Rogers would certainly benefit from not forgetting this important observation in future fights. Its called Fighting 101.
I must conclude by saying that I was equally impressed with Rogers’ determination during his post fight interviews. I’m sure he’ll come back even stronger on his next fight. He’s young, and certainly has accomplished a lot (considering he was changing car tires a year ago) to support his family.
In this regard, Brett Rogers surely has gained my respect.
