Anderson Silva & BJ Penn silence the critics at UFC 101

Philadelphia fans did not disappoint.  They filled the Wachovia Center to capacity for UFC 101. The best fight before the co-main events happened to take place in the crowd but hey it's Philly.

I hate to say it but the under card was a real snoozer with a lot of lay and pray going on but the 2 headline bouts were well worth the price of admission.

Anderson Silva was greeted with a chorus of deafening boo's but left to a similar magnitude of cheers.  Spider destroyed the crowd favorite Forrest Griffin without being touched.  After Griffin got KTFO'd he sprinted to the dressing room without acknowledging the victor...very surprising.  I didn't expect that from Forrest...thought he was a better guy than that.  But things happen in the heat of battle.

And Baby J should never again consider venturing very far from 155 lbs.  He was in superb shape...ripped actually.  He manhandled Kenny Florian and rear naked choked him into an altered state of consciousness.  BJ has never looked better.

What did we learn (re-learn)?

1.  Anderson Silva is an MMA god.
2.  BJ Penn is legendary when focused at 155 lbs.
3.  Philly is a great fight town.
4.  The state of New York needs to get its act together and legalize MMA.
