Fedor signs with Strikeforce...that's a win for everyone

The MMA blogosphere is in a tizzy because Fedor signed with Strikeforce and not the UFC.  MMA has more conspiracy theorists than any other major sport.  You certainly don't read this magnitude of drama on fan sites with the NFL or MLB.

Maybe it is a measure of the passion of the MMA fan or maybe It's just wishful thinking.  The comments are incredible!!  But I do not understand the hypertension and meltdowns.  It's not that deep.

Dana White wasn't going to give his dominance away by co-promoting with the one horse show called M-1 Global, even if their single pony is Fedor.  Dana White has the UFC...need I say more?

Fedor is an amazing talent and many say the p4p king.  That's a reasonable statement in my book (I tend to go with GSP and Anderson Silva). But he isn't equal to the entire UFC roster and that is exactly what a 50-50 co-promotion would mean.

Personally, I don't think that Fedor wants the challenge of the UFC.  Therefore, Strikeforce is a great place for him.  Fedor seems to do well with ex-UFC fighters and Strikeforce has plenty of those.

In the end, we get to see Fedor fight.  He doesn't fight often and never the best competition but it's big business.

Apparently Fedor and M-1 Global feel that it is better to be the biggest fish in a little pond than to swim with the sharks.

"[Fedor] doesn't fight the best competition" ???

The first time he fought Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Nogueira was arguably the clear cut #1 heavyweight in the world. The second time they fought, he was arguably the #2 heavyweight in the world.

When Fedor fought Mirko Crocop, Crocop was the consensus #2 heavyweight in the world.

Mark Hunt was ranked #9 heavyweight in the world by MMAWeekly when he fought Fedor. ...and Sylvia was #4 ...Arlovski #2 ...and Barnett #2 as well.

So to say that he "never" fights the best competition is wildly inaccurate.
