Who needs who more... Fedor or the UFC?

I for one have always liked the concept of competition.  It is good for athletes.  It helps them to elevate their game.  Theoretically, competition between promotional companies should provide the fans with more quality options.  But in MMA that continues not to be the case.

Strikeforce is making a bit of progress with their recent acquisition of the defunct ProElite XC assets.  But they still appear to be a regional phenomenon and an inconsequential second to the UFC juggernaut.

Affliction just got placed in a rear naked choke when Josh Barnett singlehandedly torpedoed their upcoming Fedor Hail Mary (aka the Affliction 3 show scheduled for Aug. 1st) with his latest steroid suspension.  I had hoped that with their association with Golden Boy Promotions they might stand a chance of surviving on some respectable level but they seem also destined for the bone yard.

So, as Fedor 'the last emperor' continues to languish with a moribund promotional company and continues his insane demands with his Russian partner M-1 Global, he gets older and UFC gets stronger and stronger.

Don't be surprised when Dana White gets fed up and throws down an ultimatum...either sign the contract now or go to f#$@*ing hell.

In a year or two, the UFC will still be the dominant player and probably a mainstream sport while Fedor will be an older, balding Russian fighter that only hardcore mmajunkies are familiar with.

I am a believer in Fedor's skill set but if Dana pushes all in Fedor must tap or be banished to toil in relative obscurity for his few remaining days.

Dana is so powerful that he can and may do it in a heartbeat...

Excuse me, I mean Mr. White.
