And the list of MMA greats fighting well past their prime grows
I caused a bit of a stir when I suggested that fan favorite and living legend Chuck Liddell needed to hang it up. The Iceman has been iced too frequently and I would hate to see him permanently damaged by the sport that he loves.
But Chuck isn't the only one that needs to consider retirement. A declining skill set, multiple concussions and the accumulation of damage from too many wars are all valid reasons to worry about a particular fighter's safety.
A growing list of legends needs to do some serious soul searching: (no particular order)
Chuck Liddell (concussions)
Jens Pulver (declining skills)
Wandy Silva (concussions/wars)
Big Nog Nogueira (wars)
Kevin Randleman (declining skills)
Andrei Arlovsky (concussions)
Tito Ortiz (significant back surgery)
Phil Baroni (declining skills) not a legend ...but you get my point
Shamrock pick one (declining skills)
Who did I miss?
