Philadelphia Eagles Westbrook showing a bit of wear and tear

Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook recently underwent knee surgery and now apparently is facing ankle surgery.  There is nothing new about professional football players requiring surgery in the off season...frankly it's to be expected.  The game is violent and takes a real physical toll on the players, especially running backs.

At 5' 10" and 200 lbs. Westbrook has always been considered undersized but now that he is 30 years old (the warranty expiration date for running backs) he is viewed in a much different light.  Now undersized becomes restated and viewed as not durable enough.

Westbrook should have talked with Ladainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers to gain some perspective.  LT turns 30 y.o. on June 23rd.  Tomlinson was 'the man' and no one made much of an issue with his size or lack there off when he was doing win sprints for TD's on a regular basis.  Now as his warranty expires and he shows some of the signs of playing RB in the NFL, he has lost his luster and was forced to re -work his contract in order to stay a Charger.

Currently, Adrian Peterson is 'the man' (of the moment).  Westbrook, like all the other soon to be 30 year old running backs, is now that new car with the high monthly payment  that isn't so new any more... NEXT !!
