Ex-NFL QB Ryan Leaf indicted on Vicodin related charges

Just a few days have passed since my article on the Huffington Post web site discussed the epidemic of narcotic pain medication abuse in the NFL.  Prescription pain medication abuse is due in part to the violent nature of the game and many times lingers far into retirement.

I am far from clairvoyant but common things happen commonly.  Ex-San Diego Chargers QB Ryan Leaf has recently been indicted for multiple felonies related to the prescription narcotic pain reliever Hydrocodone (Vicodin or Lortab).  Reportedly, Ryan is currently in a rehab facility.

I have no idea when or how his abuse of Vicodin began but I've got a guess that football related pain will play a pivotal role.
