NFL Draft 2009: More money more problems

For some, Christmas and Halloween happen on the same day this year, April 25th  (the first day of the 2009 NFL Draft).  For the chosen ones life will never be the same.

A few young men (emphasis on young) will soon begin to embody the words of the famous American statesman, Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G., when he so prophetically stated "mo' money mo' problems".  First round draft picks are about to be blessed/cursed with more money, pressures (plural) and public scrutiny than they ever thought imaginable.

Someone needs to quickly teach these young men 3 phrases: "NO", "Hell No" and "lose my number".  I know that it may sound harsh but believe me it is the new reality of their lives.  If they do not learn these 3 key phrases, Christmas will soon become Halloween.

Family members, girlfriends, wanna be girlfriends, children's mothers, home boys, agents, handlers and groupies (both female and male) all want their cut.  Your job is to play football and their job is to tackle your wallet...point blank, period.

Ho's, cribs, bling, whips, liquor, clubs (especially strip) too many ridiculously late nights and general foolishness all await the newly minted early 20's-ish millionaires.

Unfortunately, nothing and no one is preparing these 'babes in the woods' for the rapidly approaching pack of wolves.  Mama wants a new house.  The agent and financial advisors are lacing their pockets. And his crew of home boys is doing what they're qualified to do...say yes to everything and buddy hustle.

Definition- buddy hustle- make money off your famous friends name without him knowing...ex. My man, I cut you a deal to appear at this South Beach night club for $25k. We only gotta be there for a minute...VIP everything!!  The payment was actually $30k but the buddy quietly kept $5k and ran up the bar bill for the club owner to eat.

For a few chosen ones, the party begins in earnest April 25th.  When and how it will end is anyones guess.
