Margarito, his trainer and loaded gloves should be banned for life

Like boxing wasn't dirty enough.  Antonio Margarito and his trainer got their California boxing licenses suspended for 1 year after being found guilty of attempting to load his gloves for the Mosley fight.  The manner in which Margarito was destroyed by Shane Mosley and the less than committed way that he fought certainly brings his recent Miguel Cotto and Kermit Cintron victories into question.

Margarito in those victories threw caution to the wind and fought with the confidence of a man with a big punch.  But against Shane and without the benefit of loaded gloves, Margarito fought like a man who knew the 'thrill is gone'.

The sad thing is that Margarito will probably ignore the ban and continue to fight in his native Mexico.

Everyone knows that boxing is a dirty business but this is even low by boxing's poor standards.

Margarito most likely stole championships and tremendous sums of money from Cotto and Cintron (and their promoters).  He probably also helped to shorten their careers.  Those are extremely valuable assets that will never be returned to these athletes.

Banning Antonio Margarito and his trainer for 1-year is a joke. Banning them for life is kind.  Making him endure the armed assault the he committed against Cintron and Cotto would be the first step towards fairness.
