Superbowl XLIII Injury Report...1 week to go
| With the Superbowl just over 1 week away and Florida experiencing unseasonably cold weather, which key injuries may be worth watching? Pittsburgh Steelers WR #86 Hines Ward tweaked a knee (MCL sprain) last week in the AFC Championship. In his 11th season and 32 years young, Ward will definitely play but how effective will he be? He is the Steelers' only 1,000 yd. receiver. MCL injuries make it difficult to plant and cut. Which does not bode well for a superb 'route runner' who lacks break away speed. RB #39 Willie Parker though not officially on the injury report will always be suspect due to his historic lack of durability. He gained just 47 yds. on 27 carries in the AFC Championship. This season he averaged the lowest yards per carry of his career at 3.8. Arizona Cardinals WR #81 Anquan Boldin's sore hammy must be feeling better as he participated in his second full practice on Friday Jan. 23rd. With his stable mate Larry Fitzgerald commanding extra attention deep, Boldin should enjoy ample opportunity underneath in the middle of the field. Anquan's physical advantages of size over DB's and speed over LB's make him a nightmare for single coverage. RB #28 J.J. Arrington continues to miss practice with a knee injury. In his 4th year out of Cal, Arrington does not figure into the running game and must get his touches anyway he can. His utility is helpful but not crucial to the game plan. |

The play when Hines hurt his knee looked brutal. I'm surprised it didn't tear his MCL completely.
