The end for 2 great Champions Roy Jones, Jr. & Joe Calzaghe...one by choice the other by necessity

Like many things in life, professional boxing with rare exception is for the swift and young. Some fighters willingly accept this law of nature but most choose to be taught. It appears that Joe Calzaghe will choose to be the former and Roy Jones, Jr. has been forced to succumb to the latter.
For the most part, US fight fans knew relatively little about the amazing Welshman. Since for the vast majority of his career he felt no need or desire to compete in the US. He didn't need us. We had plenty of superstars and frankly didn't care about him. In stark contrast, the whole world knew RJJ.
Joe Calzaghe destroyed Jeff 'left hook' Lacy and the US took notice. He then came to Las Vegas and with controversy out pointed Bernard 'Art of War' Hopkins. We still weren't convinced. But now with his undeniable 'behind the wood shed' spankin' of Roy Jones, Jr. in the 'mecca of boxing', Madison Square Garden, Calzaghe has absolutely nothing left to prove. Eternal boxing glory is his.
Roy, like many champions before him, has been vanquished by the very sport that he once ruled; unable or unwilling to accept the laws of nature.
