"All fun and games until someone gets hurt"

I can still hear my mother's voice as I sit here at my computer..."It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt".
You remember the live BB gun fights (eye protection? give me a break, I'm from Houston...no sissies allowed) and tackle football in the street. Ah, the glory of my youth. Unfortunately, as my mother knew, 12 year old boys were neither invincible nor indestructible. If this lesson is a common rite of passage, where were the St. Louis Rams and QB Trent Green when this bit of wisdom was being passed out?
Trent Green has recently been anointed the starting QB of the 0-3 Rams. On the surface this appears to be the beginning of another made for Disney Kurt Warner or Jim Gannon story. But unfortunately Trent Green is 38 years old and has had his last 2 season abruptly shortened by devastating concussions.
Who can forget his motionless body in his pristine home white Chiefs' uniform stretched motionless on the Arrowhead stadium turf? He seemed to lay there forever. What a scary picture. Then less than 1 year later, the entire ordeal replays itself now clad in a Miami Dolphins' uniform.
The St. Louis Rams are 0-3, with 11 sacks given up and 2 passing TD's for a reason. They are not very good. Now you place an aging QB (I'm being nice) who has never been considered mobile and has been knocked unconscious not once but twice into the mix. Should anyone be surprised by KTFO #3?
Fyi- concussions are brain injuries whose short and long-term health effects are very real and poorly understood.

I hear my mother's voice....
