The Washington Wizard's $111 million knee

Agent '0' aka Washington Wizard's all-star point/shooting guard Gilbert Arenas has had his 00-status* temporarily (hopefully) suspended due to injury, yet again.  It was announced, that on Wednesday Sept. 17th he underwent his third surgery in the past 17 months on his unreliable left knee.

This 26 yo 'pathologic scoring machine' (oh yeah, wasn't that Dajuan Wagner's nickname?....what ever happened to him?) missed 69 of 82 regular season games in the 2007-'08 campaign. And was completely unavailable for the Wiz's brief post season foray.

The surgery was described as an arthroscopic clean up floating debris that was irritating his knee.  Gilbert says that he will return to the line-up in December after missing only 1 month of the NBA season. The team seems to think it's more like a January premiere. Minimal summer league play, no training camp, no preseason and 12-15 weeks off....hmmm...sound like a knee wash out to you?

A routine knee arthroscopy 'washout' of floating debris has a usual 2-4 week +/- a week recovery time frame. Why so long of a recovery in this case?  A more plausible explanation opines more serious damage to the cartilage of his knee than has been otherwise described.

For a 6'4" point/shooting guard to loose a step and elevation creates a problem.  But when that undersized guard possesses an irrevocable hunting license and does not know how to pass the ball it quickly becomes a nightmare.
